Materials Engineer / Metallurgist

This position will be within the Engineering Services Group located at Arconic Power and Propulsion Research Center with responsibilities to include;

Provide materials / metallurgical support for internal test laboratories and Arconic Engines production facilities located in the North America, Europe and Asia, with a focus on forging and ring rolling metallurgy and processes.

Conduct, document and present evaluations in areas of material and anomaly characterization, failure analysis and data analytics.

Author technical and anomaly characterization reports covering analysis and project findings in support of aerospace and IGT component production facilities as well as research and development efforts.

Perform data analytics, in support of projects areas, using software tools such as SAS, JMP, R and Power BI.

Help maintain and author business unit technical documents and reports covering areas of failure analysis, anomaly and defect identification, material characterization and related topics.


Basic Requirements:

  • Bachelor?s Degree in Materials Engineering, Metallurgy, Material Science, or Chemical Engineering from an accredited institution.
  • Employees must be legally authorized to work in the United States. ?Verification of employment eligibility will be required at the time of hire. ?Visa sponsorship is not available for this position.
  • This position is subject to the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR) which requires U.S. person status.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in material characterization techniques and concepts.
  • Familiar with formal technical reporting writing.
  • Good oral and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work on several technical area projects simultaneously.
  • Knowledge of statistical software packages
  • Experience with high temperature nickel base superalloy and titanium metallurgy
  • Experience with optical and electron microscopy techniques and analysis
  • Familiarity with closed die, isothermal and other advanced forging production and heat treatment processes
  • Familiarity with ring rolling production and heat treatment processes
  • Familiarity with investment casting of equiax, directionally solidified or single crystal components
  • Knowledge of aerospace standards, materials specification and requirements

The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
